Microgaming 3 Card Poker

October 11, 2012

Online casinos offer table games based on poker. Most of these games require the player to make a 5 card poker hand and compare it with the dealer’s hand or a payout table. Some software providers like Microgaming include a variant titled 3 Card Poker at their online casinos. This game plays out much faster and also offers a change. 3 Card Poker can be accessed from the More Tables tab in the games menu. Microgaming online casinos offer two variants of 3 Card Poker, one of which is designated as a Gold Series game. As far as the rules and the game play are concerned, both variants are identical. The Gold Series variant offers a more elegant playing environment. Microgaming 3 Card Poker is live at the best Canada casinos like Spin Palace and Jackpot City.

Microgaming 3 Card Poker is a single hand game. The minimum bet is 1 credit and the maximum bet is 200 credits. There are two independent games offered, which are Ante and Pair Plus. Both can be played independently and together as well. The Pair Plus is the simpler of the two games. A wager is placed on the Pair Plus section of the betting area. Three cards are dealt to the player. The three card hand is compared to a payout table and payouts made if applicable. The payouts are as follows. A pair pays 1 to 1, a flush pays 4 to 1, a straight pays 6 to 1, a three of a kind pays 30 to 1 and a straight flush pays 40 to 1. Though the dealer’s hand is dealt, it is inconsequential both in terms of its hand ranking and whether it qualifies. Players must remember that if they play the Ante game alongside and fold, then they lose the Pair Plus bet irrespective of the outcome.

The Ante game begins with a player placing an ante wager and clicking the deal button. Three cards are dealt to the player. The player then has to decide whether to fold or continue playing. If he decides to fold then he will lose all wagers placed and will not received any payouts. If the player decides to play then a Play bet equal to the Ante bet will automatically be placed. The dealer’s hand will be exposed. The software will check whether the dealer has qualified, for which he needs queen high or higher. If the dealer does not qualify then the Ante bet is paid at 1 to 1 and the Play bet pushes. If the dealer qualifies then the two hands are compared. If the dealer has the higher ranked hand then the player loses both bets. If both hands are equally ranked, then both bets push. If the player has the higher ranked hand then he is paid 1 to 1 on both bets.

The Ante game offers an automatic ante bonus as well, if the player is dealt certain specified hands. The player does not have to place any wager for this, nor does he have to get a higher ranked hand than the dealer. The payouts for the ante bonus are as follows. A straight pays 1 to 1, a three of a kind pays 4 to 1 and a straight flush pays 5 to 1.
