Playtech Online Lucky Blackjack

Lucky Blackjack is a game listed under the head Blackjack at Playtech online casinos. Lucky Blackjack does not have any of the skill or game play required in the usual online casino blackjack variants. It would be more appropriate to consider it as a fixed odds game. This article explains how Lucky Blackjack is played and the strategy players should use to maximize the returns.

The valuation of cards and hands is done as in regular online blackjack variants. The player is given seven betting options, which are the possible outcomes of the dealer’s hand. Out of these five are hand values of 17, 18 19, 20 and 21. There are two special outcomes, which are the dealer busts or he gets a blackjack. The game begins with the player having to place his bets. The player can wager on one or more of the betting options. He can also bet different amounts on different betting options, provided that each amount lies within by minimum and maximum table limits.

After placing the wagers the player clicks the Deal button to activate the game. The dealer is dealt two cards. If they are an ace and a 10 value card then the player gets a blackjack and the game play ends. If the hand value of the two cards is between 17 and 20, both values included, then the dealer has to stand. If the hand value of the two cards is less than 17 then the dealer hits and gets another card. The dealer keeps hitting till his hand value is 17 or more or he busts. The rules describe above are incorporated in the Playtech Lucky Blackjack software and the game play on the screen takes place at a brisk pace.

A player’s bet wins if the actual outcome of the game corresponds to the bet. That bet is then paid out, whereas all other bets lose. Different bets in Lucky Blackjack have different payouts. The dealer’s hand value of 17 pays out at 5 to 1; the dealer’s hand value of 18 pays out at 6 to 1; the dealer’s hand value of 19 pays out at 6 to 1, the dealer’s hand value of 20 pays out at 4 to 1; the dealer’s hand value of 21 pays out at 12 to 1; the dealer busting pays out at 2 to 1 and the dealer getting a blackjack pays out at 19 to 1.

The correct Lucky Blackjack strategy is to wager on bets that have the lowest house edges and not necessarily on the bets that pay out the most. The house edges for different bets are different. Computer simulations have given the probabilities for the different betting options from which the house edges have been computed. For example the dealer busting has a probability of 28%. The mathematically fair payout for this is 5 to 2. The actual payout being only 2 to 1 results in a very high house edge. The other bets with extremely high house edges are the dealer getting hand values of 17 or 20. The remaining bets have a house edge of 5%. Regular online blackjack variants have a house edge of less than 1%. But online slots and fixed odd games have house edges of about 5% and Lucky Blackjack can be compared with these.
